PALMERSTON WINTER SHOW.
!' Those of our readers who had the pleasure of visiting the very successful National Dairy Show of' 1912 will be, interested to learn that the fixture for this year i s timed for June 17th, 18th. 19th and 20th. So great was the demand last year that i Committee were hard put to it to make the available covered space go , round. Thegr owth of the show has compelled the Committee to once again make provision for same and extensions to buildings are now in progress which will give "another 14,000 square feet for allotment. Thb addition will increase the covered portions for Winter Show purposes to roughly 50,000 square feet, and it is anticipated that the 1913 event will lie far and away the most notable held by the progressive Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Associa-' tion. The benefit of educational work carried on by the public spirited members and supporters of the Association is incalculable and it must be borne in mind that it is not a ma 1 -' of profits for dividends but of profits for extending the good work now being carried on. . The Show, which lasts four days, is full of interest from start to finish, and it is the meeting ground, not only for those connected with the dairy industry, but also of live stock breeders and those in the general walks of industry and commerce. The connecting' up and covering in of all the buildings will prove a great convenience, enabling as it will, visitors to "do the show" without having to go .outside. A fine new front has been erected with a verandah over the footpath which will be most useful in wet weather. An innovation this year will be a fat stock show. Two valuable ten guinea prizes are. offered in the sheep and cattle divisions for most points—straight out wins—and a big display is anticipated. Two other new departures are divisions for amateur photography and needlework. Most ooints trophies are also offered in these classes. Those of'our readers who know the show will fully appreciate the information, and to those who have rtyet visited it, we can only gay, "See it and judge for yourself."
