CALEDONIAN SPORTS.
TO BE HELD AT CARTERTON. The first sports meeting held in Carterton under the auspices of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society's Pipe Band takes place to-day on the Wairarapa and East Coast'P. and A. So-ciety's-showgrounds, commencing at noon. Between £7O and £BO is being offered in prizes, and a long programme of interesting events, for which there are many entries, has been arranged. The Carterton Brass Band will meet the Pipe Band from Masterton at about 1 o'clock and play them into the towii-, and then both bands will parade the town playing alternately. The Brass Band will also play some selections on the isports ground. In the evening a grand Scotch concert will be held in Victoria Hall, in which a number of popular performers will take part. The sports and concert have been looked forward to for some time with pleasurable anticipations, and there is every prospect of a great success lor both.
