MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
• MONTHLY- MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last evening; being present:—His Worship the Mayor. (Mr J, M, ConKl'ne) ; and Crs. H. J. O'Leary, J P, Prentice, Jas. Candy, JT. C. Ewington, W. Pragnell, and F. W. Ten pie. LMVe of absence was granted t - Crs. Donald and Elliott. The report of th? Borough Engineer was received, and described the work carried out during the past month. Correspondence was read from Messrs Gawith and Logan, asking that a right-of-way leading off Perry Street, be legalised. The matter was left in the hands of the Engineer to report at the next meeting of th? Council. ,A letter was. read from a local firm, giving a tender for supplying two trucks. It was decided-that the mater be left over for the new Council to deal with. A resolution was read from the Woodville Borough Council, proposing a tax on all motor cars and motor cycles plying for hire and that the tax be expended on improving and repairing: the roads damaged by the cars.—The matter was . left over for consideration :by the new Council The report of the Abattoir Manager gave the quantity of <d - fllaughtered at the abattoirs during the past month as 1060 l>east.s, made u.p of: Cattle 143. calves 2, sheep 710, and lambs 215. The Gas Manager presented, a comparative .statement of receipts for the last year (1912-13), as compared with the previous year (1911-12). Th' statement showed a revenue for the last twelve months of £11.284, a r against £10,159 8s 7d, showing a net increase in revenue of £1125 5s 3d. :
