TO-DAYS WEATHER.
NEW ZEALAND FORECAST. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. C. Bates, of the Meteorological Office, thia evening wired as follows: — High south-easterly winds have continued in and northward of Coos Strait, and moderate to strong easterly breezes elsewhere. Cold and changeable weather has been experienced generally, and heavy rainsqualls .along the East Coast and youth-eastern portions of the North Island, with heavy seas on thesi coasts. The barometer is now high everywhere. Present indications are for cold, changeable weather and occasional showers on the East Coast of the North Island and about Cook Strait a tendency to' improvement. Strong south-easterly winds in and northward of Cook Strait, and moderate to strong easterlies elsewhere, changing to northerly winds generally after about 16 hours, when the barometric pressure will probably decrease.
