APPRENTICESHIP.
It is probable that the conference which the Victorian Government is arranging to consider the apprenticeship problem will not ,be bound down in any degree by the terms of the Apprenticeship Bill which failed to get through Parliament last year (says the Melbourne Age). The whole subject of appi-enticesbip will be discussed from an independent point of view, and an attempt will be made to decide the main principles of a scheme to provide for the training of artisans. The conference will he asked to express an opinion as to whether anything i n the nature of apprenticeship could bo revived, or whether it would be better to abandon the old system and endeavour to replace it "with a. fuller development of technical education. The conference will make a report to Cabinet.
