TOWN HALL PICTURES.

AX UXIQUE PROGRAMME. The new management, which has taken , over the" control of the Town Hall Picture* Entertainment) * have every reason to feel gratified at the success." which greeted their opening night o:t Saturday. The building waii packed, and . the audience were most enthusiastiq- in their reception cf the first-class programme presented. There was .some little inconvenience caused at th© commencement of the entertainment, through a mishap in the machinery roam, but otherwise the performance was one of'the very ibest yet given in Masterton,' aud it is eevident that the new Company intenrs to provide only the very highest " class of films procurable for the delectation of .its patrons. The pictures were screened with rock steadiness, there being not a flicker to annoy the eyes. A feature of the entertainment werei -the selections bytlie orchestra, which, under the baton of Mr J. Candy, made a most ,successful ,clebiit. The programme itself included many stars. In fact, it may be said, that from first to la.st there was not one photoplay shown which did „not receive well-merited applause. "The Australian 'Gazette" had many itiew and interesting items. "School Gymnastics'' and "Birth of Flowta's" were education films of exceptional value. In drama, the gem film was "The Girl Without a Country," in which that famous artist Asta Nielsen took the leading role. This is. a magnificently arranged photo-play, staged in most (realistic fashion:, and introducing some extraordinary episodes. The piece is fascinating.and interesting, and makes one realise the wonderful advance made in the creation of picture photography' in recent times. This drama alone is a sufficient programme, and well worth witnessing. Other, dramas of power and interest are "The Red Barrier," and "Forbidden Love." In comedy, "Dorothy,'the Dancer" created much amusement. This programme will be continued this evening, and should not be missed. .
