MESSIAH'S GLORY IS DRAWING NIGH.
THE STONES ANNOUNCE THE SIGNS OF HIS PRESENCE. PASTOR RUSSELL AT WASHIXGTON TEMPLE—THE BEGINNING OF HIS PASTORATETEXTS FOR THREE DISCOURSES FOUND ON THE FRONT OF THE RAILWAY STA-TION-THE MESSAGE OF THE HOUR. (Inserted by Arrangement.) Pastor of London and Brooklyn Tabernacles, lias accepted a c; ,ll from the Washington Tcmplo Congregation, New York-a venue and Tlurtaonth-street. His discourse followed some appropriate remarks ro Washington as a field of labour ._ He ( believed it the only centre of lnflu- j enco superior to Brooklyn and on an j pqualitv with London. He took for . his text, one of the three Bible quota- . tions found over the portals of the , splendid railway torn ma: "Then hast put all tilings under Him" (Psa. vin j Pastor Russell declared this text specially appropriate for a great .public building reared in the dawning ot the glorious Age of Messiah's Kingdom. Although optimistic respecting the grand outcome of the Cre-ator'-s plan, Pastor Russell left no doubt in the minds of his hearers that he fully believed the Bible to teach that, preceding the sunrise of the New Age, there would he a dark hour of awful trouble; and this, he sees, is almost upon us. He reminded his hearers that the old view, now gradually fading from us, is that the Messiah, instead of coming a -second time and setting up his Kingdom, delegated authority to his followers to do this, and for one of their number to be sniritual king ■of the world, and entitled Pope. Under this mistaken notion of God's intention, well-meaning men have made many serious- mistakes. They have declared that if the Hierarchy of Christ is authorised to reign, it should use the secular arm of power, and by thumbscrew and rack, by guillotine torch, and .stake, it should put down unbelief and heresy, and compel all to acknowledge the papal throne as God's Throne on the earth. The claim, indeed, it is still maintained by many that now each Pope in turn is Christ's viceregent; that is, he reigns instead of Christ, or a.s his .representative. Napoleon broke this spell when he took the Pope a prisoner to France. The world since then ha.s doubted the vice-regency, and has held that if the Lord's Kingdom were in the earth, Divine power would have upheld! it. .if the days of suffering and sacrifice were in the past and the days of glory and honour bad come, then no dishonour or ignominy would have been permitted.
THE BIBLE MUCH NEGLECTED. The creeds of a darker day have been reverenced, while the Bible lias been neglected'.'under the •superstition that the creeds presented the Bible teaching in a. simpler form. "The rejection of the creeds, by many of the learned, has meant also the rejection of the Bible. Many of the good a."<l able to-day are without chart, compass, or rudder on the sea of life—drifting. The colleges of Christendom are turning out unbelievers, if not atheists. The horrible consequences of this will soon be mam. fest in the overwhelming of 'our social structure in anarchy. Thank God, that will be the opportune moment when Messiah will'take the reins of Government to bless, to ■uplift! As Bible students return to God's Word., they find in it new beauty never dreamed of. They find it distinctly telling that at the time of .Jesus' Second Coniinsr. the nations will be angry and God's wrath will come in a "time of trouble such a.& was not since there was a nation." They now see that the .Church's commission is not to convert the world, but to gather out a. saintly class of followers in the footsteps of Jesus.
They percieve that as soon as the-e ioint-s'aeriticers shall have shared the Master's ignominy fa ; thful!y, .mid the "elect" number shall have been completed, then the First Resin motion "change 1 ' \v:ll perfect tlie?e on the spirit plane. "Change--! in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye." they shall be no lon</er men. but perfect Sew Creatures ot the *.)ivine nature f.iul like unto their glorious Redeemer. It is this great One. Jcsu* tho Head, and the Church his Body, the Messiah of the Scripture.-*, who is to rub\ bless, and uplift the worid, and ur>'ta" whom everything shall be .subjected.
The Psalmist, eon pi (taring the heavens a« God's handiwork, was ama??:! that He should consider and nrenr ,~ to deliver fallen man. He recites the glory and honour in .which Adam was created —the head of all earthly things, in the likeness of God. "a, little lower than the angels." He knew not how* the restoration would be accomplished, nor when the time of visitation would come. St. Paul quoted the prophecy and
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, Q' I have been feeling very poorly lately, and have just been told that 1 am suffering from uric poisoning. 1 shall be glad if you will tell me just what uric poisoning means. Is it a serious matter? A Uric poisoning is caused by tin retention in the blood of substance? which should leave the body in solution The retention of these substances is due to a diseased or inactive condition of the kidneys. When the kidneys ait working perfectly, they tiller and cxtiact from the blood of the aveiage individual about three pints of urine every day. In this quantity of urine should be dis solved various waste matenal producer by the wear and tear of the tissues oithe body. Tine is dead mailer, and it.-. presence "in the biood is poisonous. Hit three pints of normal mine should con tani auout ten grams in weigtit ot un.acod, an puuee oi utea, together with oilier animal and mineral mailer varying fioui a th\i..l of'an ounce to nearly; ui. ounce. Q. Then I am to understand that the substances you mention when not eliminated from the body in the natural manner constitute what is known as uric poisoning. What are the uscal symp toms by which the presence of these poisons is manifested '! A. Now you are asking a rather large question. Many complaints which are commonly called diseases are not actually diseases in themselves. l<oi instance, Rheumatism, Gout, -Neuralgia, Lumbago, Sciatica, Gravel, Stone, and Bladder Troubles are frequently caused by uric poisons. Indigestion, Anaemia, Persistent Headache, and General De bility are often solely due to the same cause. In fact, speaking generally,.-d the kidneys were doing their work ireely and thoroughly, none of the complaints mentioned would trouble us as the causative poisons would be absent. I Q. I had no idea that so much de I pended upon the efficient action of the kidneys. I suppose that when anyone is suffering from Rheumatism, Gout, Neuralgia, Lumbago, Sciatica, Gravel, Stone, Bladder Troubles, Anaemia, De bility, Persistent Headache, or lndiges tion, the scientific method of effecting a cure, in moet cases, would be to direct ly treat the patient for the kidneys? , A. Exactly. In fact, that is the only'way in which a radical and permanent cure would be effected. The kidneys must be restored to health and activity, eo that they may be enabled to remove the daily production of poi sons in the body, or the patient must continue to suffer.
Q. I have always been under the impression that the liver had a great deal to do with the maintenance of our general health, but it seems that the kidneys are the chief cause of most of the disorders from which wc suffer.
A. The work done by the liver is of the utmost importance, and it is closely associated with the work done by the kidneys. Indeed, when anything is the matter with the liver the kidneys are generally affected, anc' the contrary if likewise true. In the liver various sub stances ars actually made from the blood: Two or three pounds of bile are thus made every day. The liver takes sugar from the blood, converts it into another form, and stores .t up so as to be able again to supply it to the blood, gradually, as the latter requires enrichment. e The liver changes uric acid, which is insoluble, into urea which is completely soluble, and the liver also deals with the blood eoi-puscles which have lived their life and are useful no. longer. Q. As the functions of the kidneys and liver axe so intimately related, I gather that if there is reason to suspect that either organ is not doing its work efficiently, a curative agent should be employed which would act equally upon the kidneys and liver? A. Yes, that is the ca?e, and it was the realisation of this important fact which led to the discovery of that invaluable medicine Warner's Safe Cure. About thirty years ago, curtain inveetigators, knowing that if they could find a medicine which would bcnofically affect alike the kidneys ami the liver, they could control most-of the common dis orders, devoted themselves to the search lor such a remedy. After many disaptheir efforts were rewarded, and a medicine ihav known as Warner's Safe Cure was proved to possess the re quired properties. Warner's Safe Cure has a marvellously stimulating-and heal ing efi'ect upon both the kidneys and the iiver, and by restoring these vital* organs to health and activity, it necessarily cures all disorders due to the retention in the blcoJ of urinary and biiiruy poisons such as Rheumatism, Gout, Neuralgia, Lumbago, Sciatica, Blood Di«o!deys. Anaemia. "Indigestion, Bi.liousr.e:-v, Jaundice, Gravel. Stone, Bladder .Troubles, General Debility, and Sick Headache. Kvon complaints diagnosed as Bright'--- Disease, probably til* most fatal of all diseases, often yield to treatment by Warner's Safe Cure. Cures effected by Warner's Safe Cure are permanent, simply because they are natural.
As you are eo. much interested in this subject you should write to the Aus tralaeian office of H. H. Warner and Co., Limited, Melbourne, who will be pleased to send you, free of charge, a pamphlet treating it fully. Warner's Safe Cure, is eold by chemists and storekeepers everywhere, both in the original form (5e bUtles) and in the» cheaper "Concentrated," nonalcoholic form (2s 6d bottle's).

That special service is a s«c--rifinifl.l one. As the .Lord Jesus sacrificed his even- earthly interest to do the Father's will, so must all who would be of the Bride class.' and sit •with him in hi* Throne. This is tihoir covenant, to which tlie Apostle refers, saying, "Present your body a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God." St. Paxil declares that the- Sa-rictifiei and the sanctified ones iare all one — he the Head and they the Body members.
