Mr. li. Kemp, of the railway staff at Petone, has been transferred to Master ton. -Mr. Gregory Elkington, of "Clifton Grove," Masterton, left for Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Mr W. Barton, of Featherston 3 arrived iback on Thursday from a visrfi to Canada and America. Sir Walter (Buchanan, M.P., wiho is at present on a visit to the Old Country, is expected to reach Auckland on his return on July Ist ,in the Union "Steamship Companys new steamer Niagara. Mr T. Miller, of the Featheinston, telephone exchange, lias been transferred to Taupo. Mr Miller gained his early experience in the Masterton exchange. Mr A. Bell, at present Secretary of the South Canterbury Education Board, has been appointed Secretary cf the 'Southland. Education Board 1 , at a salary of £550 per annum. At a. largo "kcrcro" of the Masterton Savage Club, held in Murray's. Hall last evening, Chief Savage D. K. Logan presented Savage S. Inder, who is leaving for Christ-church, with, a certificate of life membership, and Savage iF. H. Fileonte, the musical director, with a handsome dinner service on the occasion cf his approaching marriage. At the meeting of the Ma,sterton Cha.mbcr of Commerce yesterday, 'Mr O.
