MASTERTON FIRE BOARD.

QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Mas-tei-fcon Fire Board was held in the Secretary's. office yesterday afternoon there being present —Messrs C. R. Robieson (in the chair), A. E. Gill, C. R. Smith, J. C. Twington and J. M. Goradine, Apologies for absence • were • read from Messrs 0. N. C. Pragnell and J. P. Prentice. - • The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £l2O 12s 3d. The local committee was requested to bring down a report regarding the lea.se of the Knripuni Fire Station, it being decided meanwhile that the Board agree to pay the yearly rent asked by the Triuist Lands Trust. | It was decided chat the question, of 'expenses incurred by the members of the Brigade and Fire Police, who attended the. recent demonstration at Wanganui. tie left in the hands of t-fte local committee. The local committee, in conjunction ■with Jn.sm\'tar Hugo and Superintendent Jenkins. was requested to inquire into the ouestions of a water supply fop the Jubilee Engine and a motor en<rinp, a report and recommendations to lia brought down at the annual meeting. The Secretary was asked to prepare a. isynonsis of the business transacted at the recent Fire Brigades' Conference at C-hristchureh, and ireport on the- proposed alteration to the Fire Brigades Act. a copy to be supnlied to each member of the Board. The quarterly roiwrt of the Superintendent wa« received A discussion took place in reference to tenders for .supplying a motor fire enaine. in coi.nection wi'h which valuable advice v.as gvrrn by Inspector Hugo. It was decided that the matter be left over till the annual meeting, and until the local committee's report lie received. An invitation to the members of the Board to be present at the anual dinner of the Fire Brigade and Fire Police was .received, and the secretary wa.s instructed to write thanking the Secretary of the Brigade for the invitation., and stating that the .members of the Board would be pleased to be present. Accounts amounting to £o4 17s 9d were passed for payment.
