Mr J. solicitor, of Dji'nedin, died at ihig residence, Forth* street, on Good Friday, in his 65tTv year. He was the second son of the late Dr Hi slop, and was born at Kirls: Newton, Mid, Calder, Scotland, iir 1848: He ••arrived-- here with his parents in 1856 in the ship Stra.t-smorr-. Ho was a'member of the firm of Hislop and Lai_n.g. .
The death occurred at; the Master-toa-Hospitalr -last Evening of Mr Hans Beck, at "the age of (55, The deceased" resided for a number o£ years in the Te Wharau' district,. where for son etime he followed farming pursuits. Mr E. C. Jack, Dominion secretary of the Farmers' Union, and one time of Masterton, who has been seriously ill, is now on tire road' to improve-' ment, but it will be some weeks before he can resume his duties. At a meeting of the District Nursing Committee, hei'd on Tuesday last, it was decided to transfer the headquarters of District Nurse Gates from Pongaroa to Eketahuna. A quiet wedding was celebrated at. tho residence of the bride's parents on Monday, when Mr A. J. Perry, son of Mrs Perry, of Kimbolton, Feilding, was married to Aliss Mary M. Davie, second dmuchter of Mr and Mrs J. M. Davie, old and respected residents of the. liongomai district. The bride .'was given away by her father, while Miss 0. Davie acted as bridesmaid and Mr H. H. "Godfrey as best .man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. 'H, A. Walke. of Eketahuna. Mr and JVlrs Perry left later for the nor.th on their .honeymoon.

Mrs Burwss. who was the widow of the late Robert Burgees, farmer,, of .J •'. sonville. was bom in England, and was a daughter of the late JVIr Petherick. She came with her parents to New Zealand in 1841 in the ship Aurora-, and landed at Petone. The death occurred at the Pahiatua Hospital on Thursday evening of Henry J., .Stevens, son of Mr H. Stevens, of IMangamutu'. The deceased jlad, who was only 17 yearn of age, was of a quiet- disposition, and a general favourite. Mr (a Hugh Cockrell, of Wellington, son of Mrs Oockrell, an old and respected resident of Otaki, was married to Miss Nellie Judd, daughter of Mr Davidl Judd, well and favourably known on' the Coast, and Mr Percy Taylor waa married to Miss Lily Judd, Both of tho brides have-relatives in the Wairarapa.
A wedding in which considerable local interest was manifestoc.l was celebrated in St. Matthew's Church, Masterton, 011 Monday, when Mr J. Arthur KusseY, .second son of Mrs Godfrey Russell, an old resident of this town. was united to Miss Katie Annie Olliver, .second daughter of Mitt,id Mr.s George Olliver, "who are also old residents. The llev. H. Watson performed the marriage ceremony. in the presence of many Iriends. Jhe bride, who wa s Riven away I >y her father, was attired in a handsome •ilress of cream <silk voile, with the usual veil and orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Misses Nellie Watson (chief) and E. Ollivor, tli o£ whom were jivottily dressed in cream silk voile. Mr R. G. Russell acted as host man. The present oi tho bridegroom to tlte bride was a haiitlsonic gold brooch, with pearl setting; to tho chief bridesmaid a hall-moon brooch «et with p?nrls; and to Miss Olliver a costly necklet. Mr and 1 s Russell left in the afternoon, ior I'almerston and Wanganui, the bride's goj ing-away costume being ol navy blue, I with hat to match. The young couple were the reeip vents of many valuable presents, and hearty good wishes for their future, happiness.
