AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

ON THE PARK OVAL. A good deal of interest was evinced in the events got off on Thursday evening, under the auspices of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club. The events contested were a 120 yds. hurdle race and BSO yds. flat event. The former was keenly contested, A. C. Williams winning on the tape from R. MoKenzie. In the half mile event Perston, A Carterton runner Avon fairly easily from. R. McKenzie, who was giving him a good start. The results were as follow: — 120 Yds. Hurdle Race. A. C. Williams 1 R. McKenzie 2 R. Messenger ■ 3 Won by half a yard. SBO Yd*. Handicap. R. Perston 1 R. McKenzie 2 L. Crass 3 Won easily.
