ATTEMPTED MURDER.

OF CHINESE CONSUL

(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY. March 21. The Chinaman Cliia, has been committed for trial for wounding with intent to murder Young-Laing-Hwong Chinese Consul to Sydney. The evidence showed Chia was discharged from the consulate employ in the Chinese Government, and intimated his intention to return to China. He sought to obtain from Yung-LiangHwong •introduction's to Ministers. He was annoyed at not obtaining them, and was asked to leave the office. He then commenced shooting. After his arrest Chia declared that he. intended to kill Yung-Liang Hwong, because he abused him, and then kill himself.
