CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS. (Bv Telegraph. — Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Before the Supreme Court sitting in bankruptcy, an application was made for the discharge of George Hamill, whose counsel stated that the bankruptcy ..went back to July loth, 1904, and the bankrupt had since then paid all proved debts with interest. His Honor, Mr Justice Denniston, said the applicant had left the Dominion, taking a large sum of money j with himi, and had left his debtors | unpaid. He had also left, a sum of money behind him and on this being found out tlie Official Assignee had attached' the money for the amount claimed, plus interest. The question was whether the man was guilty or. not of an improper act. Hip. Honor Wi mated that he would defer the application for further consideration. At the Compensation Court, Mr Justice Denniston presiding, and Messrs 1 A. Coyle and W. J. Hopkins sitting as a-ssesors. the case l of Matson against the' Crown- was. heard. Tlie action was brought by Leicester Matson a.s trustee for H. Matson and Co. against the Minister for Hallways fir £1478 compensation in respect to tli? compulsory taking by the Minister in. October. 1908. of lands at ,<WI- - belonging to Matson and Co. The claimant claimed £BBO for the land taken and £598 as subsidiary damages. A prior claim made by the claimant was for £2131 included *■"£.? 10s as value of the land taken. After the bearing of some evidence the Court adjourned.'
