.Messrs Dalget-y aind Co., Ltd., '.report on their kketahuna sale a« follows: A good yarding of all classes of sheep was offered to a fair attendance of buyers. The demand v.a/= only limited, out a good clearance resulted at prices on a par witli last sale prices: Good 4-year ewes to 13s Id, f.m. ewes 5s 6d to 7s (id, small 2tootk ewes 9s 4<l, ismall wethers 9s Bd, shorn lambs to 7s 3d, Itomney rams (2-tooths) to 3{-gns, 6-tooth s.d. rams 2gns to 3-J-gns, aged rams 5s to 7s 6cl. indly note that owing to the next sale date falling on Good Friday, no sale will be held. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Lid.,-report on their Eketahuna stock sale, held yesterday, as follows: We offered a good yarding of sheep of various descriptions, also a large number of rams, [including several lots of boilers. No cattle were yarded. This innovation was inaugurated- at the request of the local branch of the Farmers' Union, the idea being to dispose of all the aged rams on one day instead of offering Lhem at various sales throughout the •season, and at the larger sales when the accommodation of the sheeip pens is taxed to its utmost capacity. The quality of the sheep yarded was not up to the last two «sales, but the market on the whole Avas slightly better, and equal to that lading at the larger centres. Quotations: Aged ewes in fair condition 8s Id to 8s ild, others with failing mouths (is to 7si 4d. cull ewes down to 4s sd, cull 2, 4. and 6-tootli ewes 10.s, shorn lamb' (gocd) 7s 9d, others down to os 7d, small black face lambs ss, 2-tootl wethers (small) 12s 7d, 1-shear Rorail ev ranis 3 to 4A gn.s, 2-she.n.v Lincoln rams 3 to 3£gns, 1 and 2-shear K.L. rams lgn, 2-shea-r Romney rams 1£ gns, 3-shear Shropshire rams lgn, a.j.eci Eomney and Lincoln rams (a total of about 30) 5s to 10s, according to condition. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.,- Ltd., report on their weekly sale: At the request of the Farmers' Urion all cattle were liar rod and a ram fair held. We found rams hard to ouit rr.vinr. no doubt the latei'css of the season. Only ram:- of good quality met with any competition. We had a fail entry of sheep, which sold readily at late rites, and have to report a total clearance at the foliowiijg prices: 2tooth wether/s 13s, 2-tooth' ewes 10s 2d to 11> 6d, fat and forward ewes 12s Id, s.m. ewes 6s, Bs, 8s 6d. 9s 3d to lis, b.f. lambs 6s 9d' to 7s 9d, white face woolly lambs 13s 6d, Romney vfl-ras 15s to Lincoln ra.nv i(aged) 14s to 20s.
CLEARING SALE ON ACCOUNT OF MR ALEX. HANNAY.
.Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report 'having held a very successful clearing vsale on Thursday, 13th .inet., at Mr Hannay's Kahautara property. A large number of buyers were present" from all parts of the district, and bidding on a number of lines offered was keen. The arrangements for the sill© were most complete, andi allowed it lie aiucfcxmeers to get through the numerous lots offered with expedition. The live'stock were in first-class order, and favourable comments were passed on the condition of the different lines. The prices .realised for a few different lots of the sheep were a little disappointing, especially for the 4 and 6-tooth ewes-r-big framed good conditioned Romneys —which were sold at 13s 2d. uNTo doubt a number of the buyers would have been prepared to pay considerably more for these sheep liad the istock not been bred on swell good heavy country. .Exceptionally keen competition took place for the cattle and horses, and satisfactory prices were realised. All the cattle were in very good condition, and the cows and heifers submitted showed plenty of breeding. The principal sales effected were .as under: Sheep—--720 4 and 6-tooth Romney ewes 13s 2d, 250 4 and 4-year owes 12s 7d. 250 2-tooth wethers 14<s 2d, 300 2-tooth ewes (i«mall) 13s 3d, f.m. ewes 7s Id, cull 2-tooths.9s Orl, nzeil Southdown rams. £2 10s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as. follows on their monthly Pongaroa sale, held on Thursday: We had a large entry of good sheep and cattle which were well competed for, audi sold readily to'a'large attendance ofi farfficrs and others, at the. following rates: 4 and 6-tooth ewes 13s 6d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 13s 6d, aged! ewes ss, 7s, 9s to lis 3d, shorn lambs Ss, small lambs 3s lid to os, Lincoln rams 2 to Sgns, romney rams 2 to 3 gns, young steers to £2 6s, 18month steers £4 ss, 18-month heifers £3 17s, 3-year bullocks to £6 11*5. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Pongaroa ■-ale as follows: A heavy yarding of she?p camo forward, a few lines having to be accommodated in the cattle pens. Prices, in sympathy with outside markets, showed a decline on last sale's report, but vendors lin most, ca-ses were, prepared to sell, and with the exception of one pen we had a. total clearance at auction. There was a good inquiry for young breeding ewes, and prices realised for this class were satisfactory to vendors. A small ell' try of cattle met with a ready sale, all lines being disno-sed of under t-ho hammer.
