POLAR EXPLORATION
LETTER TO THE PRIME MINISTER. APPRECIATION OF N.Z. ASSISTANCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday. To-day the Hon. W. F. Massey, Prime received the following letter from Lieut. H. Pcnnell, master of the Terra- Nova: "Dear Sir, —I have to express the sincereet appreciation and gratitude of the wlioio expedition for the great help and consideration shown by every Government Department to u;s, and in fact by the whole of New Zealand. This help has been rendered in every possible way, and has been of enormous value. We all feel that New Zealand has accepted the expedition as its own, and we leave these hospitable shores with very great regret."
