CLEARING SALE OX ACCOUNT OF THOMAS GREEXAWAY, ESQ,
Messrs Dalgoty and Co., Ltd., report having held a. successful sale at Mr Greenaway's property. Dry River, Alartinborough, on Tuesday, Ith. instant. A large number of settlers throughout the district were present, and live and dead stock offered sold at full market rates, of the prices realised are as under: —Sheep: Eat and forward woolly lambs 12s lOd, old ewos 7s 7d. Cattle: Dairy cows in milk £1 os. mixed weaners 31s, springing heifers £4 12s 6d, to £5 ss. Horses: Aged geldings £ll to £ll 10s. The implements and -sundries all sold at full market rates. The sale all through was in every way a successful one
WAIPOUA SALE YARDS
Messrs James Macintosh and Co. report having held their usual weekly sale iii their Waipoua (Mastorton) saleyards, when they offered a yarding well above advertised numbers, which we are pleased to report met with very fair competition, and can also report practically a total clearance, at the following prices: -I and 5 year old ewes 7s (>d to Us 3d. 2-tooth ' owes to 12s 3d, b.f. lambs 7s 7d to .';■> i'd. shorn lambs 7s 7d to 9s 3d, ''at ewes to lis. -l-tooth ewes Ms Id, 2-tooth wethers lis (3d to 12s lOd, cull lambs 3s to Is lOcl, medium lambs ' 5s -Id to Us JOd, store cow-s £3 10s, ' fat and forward cow s £4 15s. -weaners 25s to 3.15. Horses sold at full rates.
MASTERTOX STOCK SALE
Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltd.. report on their Master-ton stock sale, held yesterday, as follows: We yarded considerably over 3000 sheep, and a couple of pel's of cattle. The •sale was not equal to the previous week, except for good conditioned ewes, which sold freely. Lamlis and aged ewes with failing mouths were difficult to quit, and even sounrfnioiith ewes in low condition wero hard to place at rates ruling previously. We sold on hehalf of Mr Guv Williams, TV Parae, a fine, of 264 well grown 2-tooth ewes in good condition at 15s id. Cattle were offered late in the afternoon wlion most of the people had quitted the yards, and practically hut little, business resulted. Quotations: Fat owes 13s Id, Down rape lambs (good) 10s, shorn rape do. Bs, 2-tooth ewes 10s Id to 12s 6d and up to los 4 C ] f (>l . an extra Rood lot, good white face lambs 9s, culls 5s 9d to 6s 3d, small do lambs 5s to_ 5s 3d, culls 4s, sound-mouth breeding ewes in low condition 6s to Ss 9d, better conditioned sorts 10s to 10s fld, ewes with failing mouths ■is 10d to 6s 9d, fair 2-tooth wethers L lls 9d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agetocy 00., Ltd., and Reduced, report: We submitted a good yarding of .sheep to a large attendance of buyers at Solway yesterday, but owing to the continued" dry weather competition was anything but keen, with the. rO -„.'<- the sale was rather dragging. Good rane lambs made up to 10s 7d, store do.'.ss 9d to 6s lid, culls 3s to ss, 4-year-old ewes 10s 9d, aged do. 2s 6d to 3.s 9d, forward wethers 13s 7d, fab cows £4 10s.
PAHIATUA STOCK SALE. Messrs and Williams, Ltd.. report: We offered a heavy yarding of sheep and a fair one of cattle. Business under the hammer was not keen, but we made a good clearance eventually at ruling rates. Quotations: 2-tooth ewes 10s 10d to 13s 9d, mixed aged ewes'9s to 10s • xl, store ewes 3s 6'd to 6s, 2-tooth wethers 13s Id, medium lambs 5s 9d to 6s 4d, good .shorn lambs 7s 9d, others 2s lid to ss, good Romney rams 2J- to 3 gns, good Lincoln rams 2. l t to 31- gns, f.m. rams 3s to 16s, others 1$ to 2 gns, good weaner heifers £2 12s 6d to £3, good weaners 30$ to £2 2s, mixed weaners 255, store cows £3 10s to £4.
WELLINGTON WOOL SALE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows: The catalogue for the final sale of the season was small, and comprised a little over 3000 hales. There was a very poor selection of wool,.most lots being logstained, seedy wool from the back country with a few bright parcels of bright lleece and lambs. Competition was keen, and prices were on an average id higher than last sale, in some cases 3d. Slightly seedy lambs were a good deal higher than last month, whilst super lambs were on a par. Pieces and bellies also ruled at last sale's prices. Our highest price was for a line of Romnev wool from
Halcombe, which sold at lid. Some of our prices were as follows: Gatcombe, 9 bales llomney lid, 8 bales crossbred lOd; Opawa, i bales lambs IOiJ-d, various (3 bales lambs lid; M. , G. over E. F., 3 bales crossbred 10£ d; V. Diamond, log-stained 9d; Maraokowhai, 35 bales log-stained 9d; J. 13. G.. 4 bales lambs lOJd; S. B. A., U bales crossbred 10Jd, 3 bales crutchings 74d, o bales lambs 8-J-d; A. 1., 3 bales lambs 10^1; Runneymedo, 4 bales lambs lO.kl. Messrs James Macintosh and Co. report: The fourth wool sale of the season was held in the Town Hall to-day. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was animated throughout the sale. Prices .showed an advance from {d to Jd. Our catalogue consisted mostly of oddments, and we sold pieces up to 7;} d, second pieces 7d, locks up to o;',d, scoured pieces to HAd, scoured locks to 9lid, scoured dead 12;Jd.
LONDON WOOL SALES
Messrs Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report having received the undermentioned cablegram from their I London Agents:—"■ Medium crossbreds and merinos five per cent, advance, coarse crossbred 7-J- per cent, advance, fine crossbred unchanged, market very firm." i The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London House: —"There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales , to-day, competition by Home and Continental buyers being .spirited. Prices as compared with the close of preceding series ruled about 5 per cent, higher for Merino, fine crossbred, medium crossbred; higher by o per cent, to 7 per cent, for coarse crossbred. The opening catalogues were fairly representative. American operators wove buying."
