The l)annovirke Racing Club's Autumn meeting will be concluded to-day. Weights for the Wairarapa Racing ("lull's meeting are due on Monday next, and acceptances on the Friday following. Sir Knox is striding out irooly at Opaki. A veterinary surgeon had a look at Alecto a few days ago. He considers the Sir Laddo mare, is sufrering irom shoulder rheumatism. Teviotdale, who raced at Dannevirke vesterday was taken all the way IVom R-iecarton. Ho will probably do some of the Easter meetings in the North Island.

'Almissa, the Australian Cup winner, started, a comparative, outsider in the'event named. Pie ran a very bad race on the opening day, the explanation given for the apparent inconsistency being that he had got loose during'the night and had eaten a quantity of his bedding. Any excuse is better than none. Many sporfcsineut would like to know why the Stipendiaries asked no questions' regarding Masterpiece's inconsistent display at Wangamu. While there is little doubt that Masterpiece is an in and out customer, it would be only fair to his owner and other owners" than an explanation be asked for. One cannot but wonder what would have happened had Masterpiece been owned by some person of lesser importance in the sporting world, than the President of tho Racing Conference. One who race* for the pure lov--; of it, cannot relish such displays a,s we have come to expect from the Derby winner, to say nothing of the very unkind way in which the public accept the running. Tlie nominations received for the two chief events to bo run at the Whakataki meeting are larger than usual, and as far as numbers -go point to a successful gathering. T noticed one of the horses entered bowling along in his owner's gig the other day. He will, however, behove the worse for this useful form of exercise. Black Reef, who has shown fair form at times -should return his owner some of the stake money, if he takes to the beach.

Very satisfactory nominations have been received for tlie Wairarapn Racing; Club'« Autumn mooting, and some interesting racing should result. The Masterton Racing Club have made a numlier of improvements to the accomodation house and loose. l)oxes at Opaki. There should be no lack of boxes for visiting horses. The totalisator is also undergoing some alterations, which will tend to make the arrangements much, more complete. Quite a. number of Masterton sports were present at tlio Dannevirke fixture yesterday. Several travelled tlirougli by motor which reduces the journey by quite threa hours.
