Miss Ethel Johnson, daughter of Mr Edwin Johnson, of Mastertora, leaves next month on a trip to the /Old Country. The Misses L. and J. McGregor, daughters of Mr James McGregor, of Masterton, leave Wellington to-inor-a'ow for Sydney, where they will join the steamer Otvanto. They., will he nhsent from the Domoniom for about eight months, durma: which,' period tliey hope to visit many parts of the Did Country. Miss Wood, a. well known Auckland ladv journalist, who was on the staff of the New Zealand Herald, died last week. She had been confined to bed -since December, and was unconscious for some days hoforo she died. t •Mr 11. W. .Carpenter, editor of the [Auckland Graphic, with Mrs Carpenter, arrived in Masterton on Tuesday Slight. The Hon. George Fowlds will leavo ibv the iR.MjS. Makura on April 11, oil a visit to England, via Canada. Ho ■will be accompanied hy Miss May lEott-lds. An old settlor of Albertland, Mr [Robert Hefl'ord, died on Sunday night. He arrived in the ship Hanover in 1862. and had resided continually at Port Albert 'for over fifty years. He was a native of Coventry, iEngland.
