HOSPITAL BOARDS.
The Inspector-General of (])r Valintine) has suggested a reduction in the number of members of the Manawatu Hospital and Charitable Aid Board from fifteen to nine. A similar suggestion might, we think, be made with advantage in respect to the Wairarapa Board. As at present constituted, the latter Board is too cumbrous and costly. The work could be more efficiently performed by half the present members. There i,s no reason at all why every small County and borough should have a separate representative. The Counties and boroughs should he grouped in such a way that the northern end of the district would have three representatives, the centre three, and the This would he quite a sufficient representation, and woidd be more, equitable than at present. The watter is, we understand, to come up for discussion at the next meeting of the Board.
