Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on.their sheep fair held on Tuesday, as under: With one exception the whole entry '-amo , forward, the yarding being well up to advertised numbers'. Compared v.ith previous years, the sheep were not ii) Cue same condition, but on the, other hand a decided improvement v,as apparent in the drafting cf the \ urienvi lots, especially the big lines. The attendance was very satisfactory, buy-, ers from the Wairarapa, West Con,t, and Waikato being prominent,, practically the whole of the yarding leaving the district. We sold on behalf of Mr Mark Ca.selberg, fane', 413 4 [and 5-year-old ewes 12 s lid; on bcr half Mr Russell Grace, of Ngaturi, ■ 865 good raamy 5-year-old ew e s'-at 12s 10d. At the commenceriieijt of the sale .buyers were inclined ho hold off, showing a strong disposition to "feel the market,"' with the result that the first fcur or five pens were passed at auction at what can only .be described as ridiculous prices. When, however, it became apparent that venders were r.repared to sell at. reasonable figures, binders opened out, and the * pens previously passed wercquickly snapned up. Very often .hu'd-n°-ss at auction was animated, bidding at times being very keen, and several lines sold at prices well-m excess of venders' expectations, practically the whole of the yarding changing hands, eleven, small pens only out of a total of 96 heing turned out unsold. On the whole, the es»u be described as eminently satisfactory, especially- for i;or,d sound hr-vlivsn; eweiS, from which there appeared to ho a demand in excess of the number offering.
