LIST OF PROMOTIONS

Mr H. H. Jackson, locomotive engineer at. Addington, will'succeed Air A. L. Beattie, in the capacity of chief mechanical engineer at Wellington, Mr Beattie is retiring on pension o'i March 31sfc, after about 35 years' sei vice. Mr Jackson is a native of Auckland, and is 50 years of age. He joined the railway .service in 1876, being stationed variously at Peione, Wanganui, Nelson and Nevhnarket, and succeeded Mr'Beattie at Addington in inO!). In consequence of this change other promotions will be made as follow: Mr G. A. Peairson, locomotive engineer at Petone, succeeds Mr Jackson at Addington; Mr G. E. Richardson, locomotive engineer at Newmarket, succeeds Mr Pearson at Petone; Mr F. T. Miirison, engineer-in-chief of the mechanical engineers office, Wellington, succeeds Mr Richardson at Newmarket; Mr S. P Erans, .workshops manager at Addington, has been promoted to locomotive engineer and transfers to .Wellington to replace Mr Murison; Mr C. T. Bargh, locomotive inspector at Thames, becomes workshops manager at Addington; Air E. E. Carew, leading fitter at Eastown, Wanganui, is promoted' to, inspector of locomotive construction at Thames, in place of Mr Bargh.
