WAIPOUA SALE. - Messrs-James'Macintosh and Co. report having held their usual weekly , s ale in their Waipoua (Masterton) saleyards on February 26th, when they offered » total yarding of 5100 sheep and about 40 head of cattle. Bidding at auction' >was slow at the eommencement of the sale, but livened up considerably towards the close, and we managed ,to dispose of .4650 sheep, only 'three' pens going out , only' three 'penig going out unsold. Quotations are as follow: On account Mr -Donald Douglas,' End, 750 4 and 5-year-old ewe.s 10s 6d to 10s 7d; on' ac. other vendors up to 12s for ■a line of 1000; forward ewes 9s 6d. 2-tnot-h do 18s to 1 J, s 3d, good woolly 8s 6d, cull lamlbs 4s to 5s 6t\. cull ewes 5s to 7s. Messrs Da lget.v and Cb,, Ltd., report having 'held their usual snip at Sohvav yesterday, when they offered a 'yarding,-'of 4000 .sheep 'of all classes. The sale all'through was very satisfactory, and at- the end of "the (lay only two small nens of lambs vwcturned out . unsold. A large mi ruber of buyers were in attendance, nnd bidding for all lines of good young ewes and wethers was keen, and prices recorded were well up to the late market rates. Lambs were rather, dull at .sale, and prices for this elsis* of •stock were rather in favour of buyers. Our special entry, on account or Messrs Barton Bros., and Read and Harris,^came foward in good -order, and a- -total clearance was made of both lines. • The Mataikona Hock- are recognised as being good doing sheep, and always command considerable attention when offered for «'ale i.-i Mas-;' terton. Good prices as given hereunder "were realised I'n-r the entry, and all other lots «umhitted met, with .satisfactory competition. Considering the condition of the fat stock market at the present time, to-day's sale was a good one, but few lines were uisposccj of at "snip" rates.
