GENERAL STRIKE
—- —■ ■ - THREATENED IN BELGIUM. ■GOVERNMENT WILL NOT COMPROMISE. (Received This Morning, 12.35 o'clock.) BRUSSELS, February 18The threatened general strike coincides with the Ghent Exhibition. The Labour Party's organisation aims at a strike lasting six months, and housewives are taking m strong provisions. Prices are rising rapidly. The Government is opposed to any attempt at compromise,-and says that the threat of a strike has become a species of permanent blackmail.
