PEOPLE'S DAY. v "^- (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) I)ANNEYIRKE, Last Night. "People's Day" of the Dannevirko A. and P. Association's show was <a great su -cess from every point of view. A large crowd was present—the largest yet seen at the show. The Governor and Countess of Liverpool attended in the afternoon, and were entertained by the stewards, and welcomed by the president of the Society. His -Excellency declared the ground open, and commented upon the prosperity of the district, and suggested that the national prosperity might bo assisted, if a- system was devised hy which delegates could l>e sent from all districts, and could assemble oftener that at present, to confer as to how the agricultural and pastoral industry might be improved. His Excellency left after viewing the show. The Hunters' Competition was won hy J. R. (McDonald's Betrayer and L. H. Collinson's Major Webb was second. These two reversed places in the Ladies' Hunter Competition. ■ |
