At the meeting of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic. Club last evening, . it was decided to write tlie Masterton Ladies' Swimming Chib, congratulilting it upon Miss Amie O'Leary s having retained tlie ladiof/ swimming championship. fn accepting tlie resignation of Mr; H. F. Green, who for some time has acted in the capacity assistant town clerk to the Mastert'on Boronglx Council, the Mayor spoke in high appreciation of the services rendered by Mr -Green during his connection with, the Borough office, and. while lua loss would be regretted it was gratifying to know that Mr Green had beeti appointed to an important position. At the monthly meeting of t-lio Masterton Coimtv Council yesterday, Or. C. Ivehhell. who is shortly leaving on a visit to the Old Country, tendered his resignation as a member rf.the Council. In doing so' Cr. Kebbell wid that lie felt it rather hard to leave the Council, of which lie had been a member, for a good many years. While 011 tlie council lie had always endeavoui ed to do his best for the ratepayers, but ho felt that there were many tilings ett undone. He would Mike to say that he was very'fortunate in having Cr. Murray as a colleague* as he had considerably assisted him (Cr Kebbell). during 'many strenuous lights. Kebbell and his wife and 'family a pleas-ant voyage, ami he hoped that on his return ho would again be seen at the Council table. He heartilv endorsed the remarks of Cr.
