From the only information, procurable to-day, it does not appear that .any news of Captain Scott's Antarctic Expedition will bo available to-night. ■ The first persons to be served arc the purchasers of the copyright in England, and New Zealand and Australian papers will have to wait until they get tlio news in England, .secure from tho chance of anticipation.. Asked when New Zealand would got news of Captain Scott's expedition, he replied: ."Twenty-four hours after it is -ont to London, as has been the practice in tlio past." He refused definitely to answer questions as to the health, of tlie members of the expedition. ARRIVAL UNEXPECTED. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night.* ,T,he Terra Nova is returning much ..•earlier than was expected. It was given out that the Terra Nova would return to "New Zealand some time in March, and indeed Mrs Scott, wife of ilie leader of tho expedition, who left San Francisco a few days ago on her way out to meet her husband, confirmed "this statement. It may he of course that the Terra Nova, on arriving at the base, found the whole ]iarfcy -waiting, and everything in readiness for their immediate return. "flie Terra Nova, will prohahly be a day ,or two in New Zealand before any news is given out to enahle the official .story of tho expedition to he cabled Home for the first publication in London. The first- news, therefore, will lie cabled back to Now Zealand from London. Tho Terra Nova sailed from Lyttelton only a few weeks ago, on December 1-1 th, for 'the Antarctic, from which she had returned on April 4th of last year. The news brought from Captain Scott was that i.e. was well on hi 9 way to the Pole, and he lia<J every chance of reaching it. The members of tlio expedition said they were satisfied he would do it. When the return party left him on January 3rd, Captain Scott still had five men and large supplies of fond, quite sufficient to take him to the. Pole and back again to tlio depots.
