Tho death occurred at Hamilton on Friday ilast of Mr William Loved ay, a former settlor of Woodville, and a well known rifle shot. Constable Doyle, who died as a result of injuries received 1 at Shannon, was buried yesterday afternoon at Southbridge, where his relatives reside.

Dr and Mrs 'Johnson, of Martinborough, leave in a. week or two for Australia, en route for the Old Conntry, where they intend making a prolonged stay. Tho residents of Rakaunui tendered a farewell social to Mr Stanley Sopor in the Rakaunui Hall on Friday evening. Mr Sopor, who has been manager of the Rakaunui store for tho past three years, was presented with a solid leather suit case, and is now going to the South fsland.
