The gazetted, returns place the European population of the Dominion, on December 31st, 1912, at 1,0.32,545, an increase of 27,139 for the year. On December 31st there were 2520 Chinese in New Zealand, including 102 females. Of the European increase, the excess of births over deaths contributed 18,212, and the excess of arrivals over departures 8,927. The birth rate for the Dominion in 1912 was 26.48' per 1000 of the mean population, and the death rate. 8.95, as compared with 25.97 and 9.39 respectively in 1911. i
