The Summer meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club takes place at Riccarton to-day, IS ice-si/.ed fields are engaged, and tho gathering will be followed with the usual interest The chief event is the Middle Park of 500 sovs, six furlongs, which affords an opportunity for the be:<t of the two and three-year-olds to meet. After final payments nine remain in the event, the three-year-olds being Autumn us (who is showing some ot his last season's dash on the training track) and Winning Way. Mr J B. Reid's Salsbtirg is sure of a big following, while of the other two-year-olds Ni'ghtwatch, Warstep and Fender appear the best. Golden Slipper (Multiform—Aura), for whom iSOOgns was given at the dispersal sale of the late Mi' G. GStead's horses, has been on a second visit to Wallace. She has a yearling filly foal at foot by the son of Carbine. The programme, which will be/folind advertised "on page 3 of this issue, is a good all-round one, and may be 'depended upon to attract a good entry list from Wairaraoa stables. It is state that R. Hatch will ride Autumnus in the Middle Park Plate, while C. Emerson will have the mount on Night watch.
