THE ANNUAL MEETING. Tlio annual meeting of the FortyMile Bush Athletic Society will be held on the football grounds, Haniua —kindly lent by Mr M. Galvin—- on "Wednesday,, (February 26th. The meeting is being held earlier this year to catch the- athletes at the top of their form. The programme appears in this morning's issue of the Age, and a perusal of the same disclose-s the fact that the prizo moneys offered are very good, and should attract the best runners in the North Island. The Forty-Mile Bush Handicap will be run over a distance of 300 yards, and the prize-money amoujnts to £B. •This is one of the biggest races* in the district, and should: attract a very field. The minor races range lrom 50 yards to one mile. The f\eld events are also numerous, and .include wrestling (oatch-as-eatch-can). high jump, hop, step, and jump, and stepping the chain. A special naildriving event for ladies is also included in the programme.
