CARTERTON NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tn the Magistrate's Court yesterday two youths named Michael Martin and Clarence Roy Bamhy were each fined Kb' and 7s costs, on charges under the Defence Act for absenting themselves from parade. On Anniversary Day a party consisting of Messrs M. Maxton, W. T. Shanley and Watson left Greytown for Mount Hector and then oii to Otaki. Messrs J. Laurensen and H. Hart were yesterday granted land agent licenses under the new Act . The Parkvale Hall Committee have just had the building repainted and thoroughly renovated throughout. Messrs Masson and Hughan and H. Hall and W. Hamer. who have five wins each, and have not vet been defeated, are leading in the champion pairs tourney under the auspices of the local Bowling Club. A fine of £2 and 12s costs was imposed' upon a "Native named Mar Maru yes'terdav, for driving a motor car through Cartei-ton at a'i excessive speed.
