Excellent entries havo boon received, and though iia particular stars will he present, tlio tournament promises to be one of the most successful yet held. Tlio playo.-s contesting the different events are a very oven lot, and the handicappers have had their work cut out in allocating the handicaps. It is expected that Mr Warno Pease, ol' Temuka. will prove tho ultimate winner of the championship .singles. He -\va,s mn- , ner-up of the Ha .vice's Bay champion singles recently played sib Dannevirlre, IMr 0. C. Cox. late rl' M.a.vterton., proving tlio winner. In the ladies' i 'champion singles tho final should rest between Miss 11. Wellwocd, of Hastings. and M : ss R. Hughes, of Pahiatua.. Tn the ladies' and men's combined champion .doubles the question of winners is a verv open one, awl the same applies to the different lian-'-dicap events. The courts as usual promise to bo among the. best in tho Dominion, the Club's groundsman, Mr Frank Treader, having devoted a lot of timo to their preparation, and for tho past week they havo been rolled night and morning. Tho public are admitted to the tournament on payment o-f. Is. Afternoon tea and raspberries and cream, will he procurable from 11 a.m. each day of tho tournament at a moderate, charge.
