NEW ZEALAND FORECAST. (By Telegraph,—Pres* Auoeiation.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev D. 0. Bates, of the Me + «orological Office, tins evening issued the following:— Strong westerly winds have prov. tiled, changing to southerly in mast parts of the South Island, i'eavy ■r:iid cloudy Heather has prevailed. Considerable rain has fallen ivi the West Coast and higher levels n the south. Rain is now reported between Cape Palliser and Knikoura. The barometer is falling in the north an i rising in the south. Present 'uliotions are for unsettled and cloudy weather, with rain in most parts of the Dominion. Strong northerly winds backing east to south-easterly northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and southerly winds prevailing elsewhere. The barometer will probably fall considerably in tho north and r'sG unsteadily in the south, but the storm area northwards of the Dominion now appears to he decre;:sin:n in tensity.
