ATTACK ON POLICE. I HATPfNS AND UMBRELLAS AS j WEAPONS. (Received January 20, 8.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, January 19. Hatpins ami umbrellas were the women's weapons in a fierce attack on the police during the garment workers' strike. Doze-ills of women were arrested. Many police were injured. Forty thousand of Chicago's garment workers are planning a sympathetic -strike. SMALL INCREASE (IB A NTED. 30,000 RETURNING TO WORK. (Received January 20. 8.15 a.m.) -NEW YORK, January 19. Thirty thousand and'* shirtwaist makers have been granted an increase in wages and are likely to resume work, despite the dissatisfaction at the smallness of the increase.
