THE PREMIER
(By Telegraph—Tress Association.) THAMES, Last Nighty The Prime Minister arrived at the Thames- W>-day. He was met by representatives of local bodies and .-officially welcomed. Several deputations urged various local matters, including the opening up of the Hauraki pastoral lands (mining lands now exempt from settlement on account of harassing conditions re . mining). A protest against change in the headquarters of the Thames police district was brought under the Premier.'s notice, and favourable consideration was promised. Various parts of the district were visited by Mr Massey, who„was entertained at a banquet this evening. To-morrow ho pays a visit to the Hauraki Plains, where the!drainage operations will be inspected.' He leaves on Saturday afternoon for Hamilton.
