INFERIOR MEAT.
Mr M. C. Orboll (chairman of the British-New Zealand Meat Company), speaking at Christehnreh, said ''U is a reason for regret that during the late sen son—l am not referring to Canterbury in particular—there (kks been too much inferior meat shipped. and if this is persisted in New Zealand meat will soon be placed up>t> a par with that of the Argentine. It. is difficult to believe that In ml* eight and nine months old, averaging only a little over 2olh in weight, have passed the freezing works and been shipped to West of England ports. This, Tam credibly informed. has been the case. Undoubtedly a ready sale for any low-class commodity can be found in England, but the shipment of such inferior meat is profitable to no one, and it would pay the grower better to keep it upon his farm, and let Australia and the Argentine cater for this business."
