FOREST COMMISSION.
The Prima Minister "states that the proposed Royal Coinmissio7i to report upon, tho-question of afforestation will consist of two or three departmental officers, a botanist, and a representative of the farming inter«at». *.70 are ■sti.-tt o$ opinio* that
such u Commission ifi a pure waste of money, smd that all the information required could bo furnished by the departmental officers themselves. These could travel the country, if necessary, and ascertain the views of farmers and botanists in the various localities. Why a solitary farmer should be appointed io the Commission we are at a loss to know. As wo
previously .stated, legislation by Commission i/s costly and cumbrous, and has nothing but evasiveness and expediency to leconimend it.
