THE SLAUGHTERMEN
OANOELLATIONS GAZETTED,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) 'WELLINGTON. Last Night. In to-morrow's Gazette there willappear the formal notifications of the cancellation by the Lalxiur Department of the registration under the Arbitration Act of the Slaughtermen's Federation and ite component Unions. Almost to the last moment there was a doubt a« to whether certain information would be received from the Canterbury Union in time; but the papers came to hand, and were finally dealt with late this afternoon. The inquiries made by the Department have shown that there is no reason why the cancellation should not be granted, so that the added trouble which was threatened on the non-appearance of the notices in last week's Gazette need not now be feared. The 'cancellations will only just appear in time, & 0 far as the Wellington and Canterbury Unions are | concerned, for the agreements under j which the slaughtermen in those districts are working both expire at midnight to-night. If the caneellaI tions, by some mischance, are not gaj zett-ed- to-morrow evening, the employers ca.n absolutely prevent the men from making any move by filing an industrial dispute on Friday morning. Such a development, however, is not likely to arise. The agreed :-ments under which the Slaughtermen'rs Unions are working do not ex- .. pire until the end of the month. Sofar as could be ascertained tr>day, no other unions have given notice of their intention to. cease work. The arrangement seems to be that Wellington is to be the scene of the test between the two parlies.
