THE REEFTON AFFAIR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) * REEFTON, Last Night. The inquiry concerning the fire at. i McMahon's stables was resumed: today. P. Reilly, who. it was said, offered the horse Comedian for sale, and who left the Hotel to visit. a,l----t iegedly, Comedian's stall, early on the morning of the fire, deposed that ho , 1-new nothing from the time he arrived at Reeftoji till Saturday, when he left. His mind was a perfect! , !)lank. To Mr White-, of Hokitika, he stated that he heard from a third person that whatever stall Armstrong was in would have been burned. He could not remember the name of the person who told him this. Armstrong was the owner and trainer of another horse. There was a bad feeling between them. This was some time ago. Other witneesses gave unimportant evidence, though tending to show the suddenness of the rise of the fire. The jury, after a retirement of some time, brought in a verdict with one dissentient, that the stable was wilfully set on fire by some person or persons unknown. ' The inq«, c rv extended over five davs.
