LANGDALE SPORTS CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Langdale Sports Club was .held on the Domain at Langdale on Saturday, in beautiful weather, and in the presence of a large attendance. The gathering is looked upon as the event of the year in the Langdale district, and settlers and their families turned out in large numbers, while visitors from many parts of the Wairarapa were also present. A feature of the meeting wa* the excellent finishes in tho running events resulting from the excellent work of the handicapped, Mr W. J- White, several of the finishes being most interesting. The gold medal for most points in this section was won by A. Desmond, who ran very consistently throughout. Tho horse events attracted much attention, and a large number of competitors started in each event. Honours in this section of the programme rested entirely with R, Douglas. Te Wharau. wh-o won four events out of five. The exhibition of horsemanship displayed by Douglas was distinctly good, and showed that though the motor car has hugely superseded the horse, there are still some fine horsemen in the country. The handsome roso bowl, donated'to the Club by the Morrison family, for tho winner of the Hunter's Competition, was won by Mr H. Falloon's Frolic, who was well ridden Ivy Mr Tas Smith, and jumped, splendidly. The judging of Mr Frank Evans in the horse events gave entire satisfaction, his decisions in the majority of cases being received with applause.
