A NOVEL POSITION

While the dispute between the * slaughtermen and the freezing compnnies is unchanged fo,r all practical purposes, n peculiar position lias arisen with the Union on the one hand and the Labour Department on th" other. Though six weeks notice tr cancel lapsed yesterday, the cancellation of the Federation under th" Arbitration Actli as not been granted and if it is not granted, before the agreement binding the men and tilr companies expires on the 17th ' those striking will lie liable to tb penalties of the Act.
