Dr Purdy, Chief Health Officer of Tasmania, in a paper on the reduction! of typhoid fever in Australia, read before the Science Congress, showed fifteen per hundred; thousand during the .reduced, by one-third .in the last thirty years. Still, however, it was fiften per hundred thousand during decade ended 1910, while it was only 6.6 in New Zealand. 7 in England, 6.2 *t( Scotland;, and 46 in the United States.
