At. a meeting of the xoal own«rs ft was resolved to withdraw from the joint Conciliation Committee, which sometimes acted as mediator between the employers and employees. A letter has been sent informing the secretary of the Colliery Employees , Federation, and pointing out that when the committee was constituted it was clearly understood that it could .not excuse interruptions to the trade through stoppages of individual lodges, - wheTea« during the first eight months of the committee's existence t-ho stoppages were forty-four in number. Since the holding of .the ag- " grarate meeting on Monday nearly j>H pits have been rendered idle. This position the proprietors refuse to tolerate any longer.
