THE WOOL SALES.

The failure of the American buyers to operate, had. a depressing effect upon the wool sale in Wellington yesterday, and prices dropped from one-half-penny to three-faith in gs per pound, compared with the prices offering in December. The reason for the slackness in American buying is difficult to [discover, unle-ss it be the uncertainty 'over' the tariff proposals of the Government, under the new President. .The breaking off of negotiations between Turkey and the Allies, and the prospect of international complications, may have affected the buying for Bradford. Wool-growers, notwithstanding the drop, have no l-ea-son to feel dissatisfied with the pn'ce.s obtained. Nor need they regard the future with apprehension, for the indications are all in favour of tlm maintenance of wool prices and tha revival of the market.
