OPENS AT MELBOURNE
SECTIONAL COMMITTEES SET UP
(Received Last Night, 10.45 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, January 7.
The Congress of the Australasian Association- for tlie Advancement of Science, opened in the University today, 560 delegates attending. Sectional committees were appointed.
Professor Kirk, of Wellington, was chosen President of the biology section ; Professor T. Mackenzie, of Wellington, of geography and history; and Dr Valintine, of Wellington, of sanitary science and hygiene.
In the afternoon, Professor David. President-elect, gave a reception tea. In the evening, Professor David delivered a Presidential address before a la>ge and brilliant gathering at Wilson's Hall. ,
