The following is the text of -an address circulated by Mr Thos. The folio are a few points oJt my policy on which I make an appeal for your support:— (1). I do not at all agree with the proposal of the Board to reduce the capitation allowance to Committers, and if elected would use my best endeavours to retain the existing a! lowance, and if possible, to .increase the snmo, which I think could reason-; ably be ckmOw (2). I would strongly oppose any a', teration in our present system of j National education likely to impair its efficiency except, by referenda or vote of the people. , (4). The education imparted to the children. sJitould, be sncih as to fit them for any occupation they, should choose to follow in after-life. (4). Agriculture is? one of the subjects that should be prominently before our scholars in a district like this, yet at many schools its teaching is meagre and of doubtful benefit: My best efforts, if elected, would be to' further this important subject - (5). I would endeavour at all times to bring about a satisfactory understanding- between the Board and Committees in the matter of "the appointment of tenchers. ; (6). T am ip favar of extending the facilities for 'higher education wherever practicable, recognising the disabilities under which country scholars work as compared with the more fortunate 'scholars in the towns (7). I am in favour of giving great-'' e.r encouragoment to the establishi meat of school libraries. T contend, is an exceptional means of conveying useful and instructive 'tion t9 pupilis. !
