TECHNICAL INSTRUCTORS.
"When the Hon J. Allen was in Wanganui the question of appointing cadeta to assist technical i instructors was brought before him, and he promised to go into the question, recognising .tlie advisability of taking steps to train the teachers whto will be required to cope with the extension of the system. As the question. is ono of urgency, however, a first step has been taken in that diVection (says tihe Feilding Star), and three promising pupils have been selected for tho experiment. In this district, on the 'recommendation of the instructors, Miss Leah Gould, of Feilding, and Miss Catherine Bowling of Taihape, ha.ve been appointed cadets in, the domestic 'science course - (in the southern district. and Master Frank Tan-ant, of Wangairui, cadet in applied arts, under Mr Andrews in the central district.. All these pupils are reputed to be especially good in their work and demeanour, and their essays ait teaching, so far, have been uniformly satisfactory. Owing t'o the scarcity of fund?, the remuneration will only be £ls for thie first year, but this will be increased, and-it is hoped to give them positions eventually as full instnietO'l'9.
