The bank received a message by telephone from a gentleman stating that a lady had taken them by mistake, which she did not discover until the bank-had been closed for the holidays. (A message received on the ■ 25th inst stated :An official in the State Savings Bank counted £l5O, consisting of 109 single notes and five tenpound notes.' He then turned round and a hand was immediately stretched over the counter and seized the note#. It wa.s the busiest period of the day and the bank was crowded It is unknown whether the perpetrator left or mixed in the throng.)
