ASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon * in. the A. and P. offices, there being present Messrs C. E. Daniell (president), G. W. Sellar, J. Brown, G,. C. Summerell, A. T. Spain, D. K. Logan and R. Brown. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs' Graham, Henderson, Hodgkinson and Chennella. The treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £l2 18s» Bd. A communication, was received from tho Decimal Association of London, stating that a Commission was sitting to take evidence on tiie question of the metric system, and stating that the Commission would shortly visit New Zealand. —Received. Mr W. C. Buchanan. MP., wrote, stating that he would confer witli the member for Masterton on the subject of bringing further pressure to Vnr tho Minister in reference to the Stipendiary Magistrate residing in the district. Mr G. R. Svkes. M.P., also wrote on tno subject, and enclosed correswndenoe .from the Minister.
