Larson, head teacher of the Makomako school, has resigned to take up a similar position at a country school near Now Plymouth. Mr H. T. Wood:, of Masterton, was last night elected a momber of the Council of the -N.Z. National bweet Pea Society. A Palmerstoiv North wire states that . Mr Jno McMahon, the recently appointed'chief stipendiary steward for New Zealand, is to take up his headquarters at Palmerston North. Mr J. H. Howifct, C.E., of the engineer's staff at Wellington, was last flight appointed engineer to tho Timaru Borough Council,, from twen-ty-two applicants. The salary is £4OO per year. Mr Bringans, 'headmaster of the Scarborough school, and Mrs Bringans intend spending the holidays at Taiere- and Central Miss Burge, of the same school, will visit Nelson, and; Miss Dunning intends, visiting Hastings, Miss R. Wilton, daughter of Mr H iR Wilton, of Pahiatua, who has iust completed her term at the Teachin*' Training College, Wellington, haß received advice that she has been awarded the "D" certificate and a.par tial pass for the "C" certificate. The late Mr W. H. Judkins, of Melbourne (one time of Masterton), who dfied on September 3, left a <rross estate of £4841, being realty £BBO and personality £3961. Ho bequeathed his furniture and jewellery to his widow, who is also to receive the income from the trust funds until her death or re-marriage.
